Sea Kayak Skills Weekends

Sea Kayak Skills Weekends & Proactive Paddler Courses

This course is aimed at paddles who are building from the Explore Award to the Sea Kayak Award and who are members who have no desire to lead but want to be more involved as a group member and want to know what to do if things go wrong. We call this ‘being a casualty rather than a victim’. It is also ideal for folk who want a refresher on rescues and current techniques and what is current best practice.

Course location:  We are based on Anglesey, we are happy to run courses in other location’s  on request.

Over the two days we will cover

  • To be better prepared for when things go wrong
  • What to do if things go wrong to you or to a group member
  • What is the leader thinking about
  • Incident Management where should I be? What should I do?
  • Practice rescues in real but safe situations
  • Swimming

Sea Kayak Safety and Rescue Course

The BC Sea Kayak Safety and Rescue course aims to provide paddlers with the key safety and rescue skills required to operate safely and be able to deal with common problems on the sea, in both sheltered and moderate conditions. Throughout the course, paddlers will explore simple strategies and safe skills that can provide the tools to solve common paddling issues. Paddles should hold the BC Sea Kayak Award (Old 3 Star) or be paddling about that standard.

This is a 2 day course.
