The Isles of Scilly are a perfect location for sea kayaking. Located off the most South Westerly tip of Great Britain. This sub-tropical archipelago is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the UK and its crystal clear turquoise waters are just beautiful. We have been captivated by the area and can’t wait to show you.
There are dozens of Islands however only a handful are inhabited. St Mary’s, St Martin’s, St Agnes, Tresco and Bryher. The fantastic thing about the area is that it doesn’t matter what the weather is doing, we will find somewhere to explore.
The inner lagoon is sheltered making it possible to paddle in all but the most extreme conditions. The outside of the islands can be exciting so we can cater for most needs.
We are planning to stay at the camp site on St Mary’s during our visit. We both believe St Martin’s and St Agnes are well worth an overnight stay, so although we are based on St Mary’s if the opportunity presents itself we may well do a bit of touring.
What the Isles of Scilly Kayaking trip includes:
Instruction, guiding and our local knowledge for 6 days paddling.
We have kayaks and equipment available to hire if required. The kayak hire fee will be include the ferry transport cost. (usual charged at 1 return passenger ticket).
The St Mary’s campsite will be booked for you but you will be required to pay for your stay. If you don’t want to camp then let us know. You can check out the campsite and other alternatives via; visitislesofscilly.com
Getting there:
The times do vary slightly from week to week due to the tides. There is only one ferry a day (Excludes Sunday) and it is just a passenger ferry.
We will meet you outside the harbour masters office on St Mary’s quay upon arrival. If you are bringing your kayak to St Mary’s then this is your own responsibility. Kayaks can be paddled around to the bay that is on the left side of the lifeboat station . We will be starting and finishing our days at this location whilst on St Mary’s.
If you cannot find us on the pier then please make your way up to the Garrison camp site (10min up hill walk). Make sure your bags are labelled for the Garrison and they will be taken to the site for you for a small charge.
We hope to set up camp before hitting the water in the afternoon for a short paddle. Please contact the isles of Scilly travel to book your tickets for the ferry. www.islesofscilly-travel.co.uk
