Mountain Scrambling

Learn to Scramble

Our ‘learn to scramble’ courses take place in Cumbria, UK.

The course lasts two days and is suitable for anyone reasonably fit with a love of the outdoors and a moderate head for heights.

No previous scrambling experience is necessary, but you will get more out of the course if you have done a fair amount of summer walking and are confident walking around the fells.

The course aims to teach you how to assess the level of difficulty of a scramble, to be able to pick and follow the route from the description in the guide book, to scramble confidently and to know when and how to use a rope to protect yourself and others on a scramble up to grade 2.

The main skills taught include using a rope and the rock to direct belay & body belays.
